  • What helps

Your device and iOS version, what you were doing, and what happened instead. A screenshot or a screen recording is worth a lot.

  • Response time

Usually within a couple of days. This is a side project, not a company, so it is one person reading the mail.

Frequently asked

  • How do I get to the settings? I don’t see a button.

Long-press anywhere on the screen. There is no visible button on purpose, so nothing sits on top of your photos. The first time you run the app it shows a one-time hint saying the same thing.

  • How do I change which photos it shows?

Long-press to open Settings, then choose under Photos. You can pick All Photos or any album in your library, and each option shows how many photos it contains.

  • Can I stop it running overnight?

Yes. In Settings, turn on “Only Run During Set Hours” and set a start and end time. It defaults to 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Outside those hours the screen goes dark and the device can sleep normally.

  • Can I change how long each photo stays up?

Yes. In Settings, under Display Time, choose 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes. It defaults to 30 seconds, and a change takes effect right away.

  • Can I go back to a photo I just saw?

Swipe right to step back through photos you have already seen, and swipe left to move forward. Swiping past the newest photo pulls a fresh one.

  • It says “Photo Access Needed”.

Just Frame has nothing to show until you let it read your photo library. Open the iOS Settings app, find Just Frame, tap Photos, and choose access. Limited access works: the app will use whichever photos you selected.

  • It says “No Photos Found”.

The album you selected has no photos in it, or your library is empty. Long-press to open Settings and choose a different album, or All Photos.

  • Some photos show no place name.

The place name comes from GPS coordinates saved inside the photo itself. Photos taken with location services turned off, screenshots, and most photos saved from the web have no coordinates, so there is nothing to look up. When a photo has no date or no location, that line is simply left out.

  • A photo took a moment to appear.

Photos stored in iCloud and not currently on the device are downloaded when their turn comes, rather than being skipped. On a slow connection that can take a few seconds.

  • Does Just Frame change or delete my photos?

No. It only reads them. It never edits, moves, deletes, uploads, or shares a photo.

Requirements

  • Devices

iPhone and iPad, running iOS 16 or later.

  • Photo access

Just Frame needs permission to read your photo library. Limited access works: it will show whichever photos you have selected. Without any access there is nothing to display.

  • Current version

    1.0
